Walk to School Week 2013 takes place between 20-24 May 2013, and is part of National Walking Month. Every year it brings together nearly one million schoolchildren, teachers and parents. This year’s promises to be the biggest and best yet!

Achieve our feats

All our National Walking Month feats are family-oriented, but we've some designed specifically with Walk to School Week in mind.

Rate your walk to school - download our fun report card and tell us if your walk to school makes the grade.

Family I Spy - spot 26 things in your neighbourhood, each starting with a different letter.

Lollipop, lollipop - one for young and old alike: tell us how much you love your lollipop people!

This year is all about the benefits of walking

Each day of Walk to School Week our learning resources will focus on a different benefit...

   Monday     Tuesday   Wednesday   Thursday       Friday

Safety     Discovery    Health     Eco-friendly Social time

Walk to School classroom resources - more engaging and educational, same great value

This year’s Walk to School Week resources will reinforce five benefits of walking, as Strider encourages children to take his 5-Day Walking Challenge.

We’ve created a whole new environment which is more vibrant and engaging than ever before – and all for only £7 per classroom pack. Take a look at the new materials in the Walk to School area of the online shop or download our resources catalogue.

Strider’s 5-Day Walking Challenge is ideal for Walk to School Week, but it can also be run at another time of your choosing, whether that’s a different week in May, at another point in the year, or even run across two weeks. The choice is yours.

Free learning resources

We've also developed free learning resources to complement each day of the challenge. So on Monday, children can undertake a classroom-based exercise which teaches them about walking safely, on Tuesday it's about exploring their local environment, and so on...

Free revision planners for secondary schools

We all know that summer term is the best time for walking. However, we also know that, if you're in secondary school, it also frequently means exams. With this in mind, we've developed a couple of handy revision planners for secondary school students to plan out their revision and allow for a little walking time to clear the head.

There are two versions to choose from - choose which suits your style best

Chronological - organise by day and time slot

Thematic - start with your priorities for the week and take it from there

Make some noise with your local community

We're delivering a national PR campaign to help spread the word about Walk to School Week. We've also developed a template press release to help you keep your local media informed about your plans for Walk to School Week.
